As with all aspects of his foreign policy throughout his career, we can safely say that Biden's gambit has failed.

Joe Biden Stumbles Into Another Gas Station, and His Handlers Have Some Explaining to Do

I don't get it, and I think the president's handlers have some explaining to do. Ask yourself this: If they were trying to sandbag his campaign, what would they be doing differently?

WHAT'S ON TAP?

Today on Capitol Hill...

It's Friday, so no hearings are set, other than possibly a House Veterans' Affairs Committee hearing on "Examining Transitioning Servicemembers Experience." (The current indication is that may be postponed.)

That doesn't mean all will be quiet on the Hill, however, particularly given the fact that Israel has now struck back against Iran. Against that backdrop, the House is gearing up to vote on a series of foreign aid bills on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Senate is taking up the FISA surveillance debate ahead of its scheduled lapse. That could get spicy, so ready your popcorn.

Full Court Press...

Former President Donald Trump will be back in court for Day 4 of his Manhattan criminal trial, where jury selection is expected to wrap up.

MORNING MUSING

I was remiss in Thursday's Morning Musing not to recall that it was the anniversary of Paul Revere's Midnight Ride. (I'm such a dork that I memorized Longfellow's entire poem in Fifth Grade for our poetry unit. Now, 45 years later, all I remember is the first three stanzas. But I digress.) What that means, of course, is that today, Friday, is the 249th anniversary of the "shot heard round the world" and the battles of Lexington and Concord. So...Happy 'Merica!
