George Takei: Racist. Bigot.

takei
What is the difference between George Takei and Ku Klux Klan member? The Klan member can pretend to not be a racist while on television.

George Takei is a racist. There is no other way to put it. He might as well have his valet send his white robe to the cleaners to have it pressed and starched while his gardener makes a nice, flammable cross.

On Monday, Takei, who as far as I can tell has never done anything but play a Star Trek character, unleashed a hateful, racist rant against Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas on the subject of homosexual marriage.

Transcript via Newsbusters

GEORGE TAKEI: He is a clown in blackface sitting on the Supreme Court. He gets me that angry. He doesn’t belong there. And for him to say, slaves have dignity. I mean, doesn’t he know that slaves were in chains? That they were whipped on the back. If he saw the movie 12 Years a Slave (ed note– For the love of God, Mr. Sulu, think about what you are saying. 12 years a Slave is a freakin movie. A MOVIE. I isn’t a documentary), you know, they were raped. And he says they had dignity as slaves or – My parents lost everything that they worked for, in the middle of their lives, in their 30s. His business, my father’s business, our home, our freedom and we’re supposed to call that dignified? Marched out of our homes at gun point. I mean, this man does not belong on the Supreme Court. He is an embarrassment. He is a disgrace to America.

“Clown in blackface?” If anyone other than a) a liberal and b) a fanatical homosexual activist has called a black man “a clown in blackface” they would be driven from public life. But instead, the left is cheering Takei on. For instance Jesse Byrnes (@jessebyrnes please let him know) at The Hill approvingly quotes the entire rant. The Huffington Post buys Takei’s after the fact excuse that “clown in blackface” is some sort of theatrical term used all the time to describe black men. Most liberal outlets have simply ignored Takei’s racist hissy-fit. What takes this from the realm of some addled, septuagenarian homosexual activist shooting off his mouth into the realm of hard core and inexcusable racism is the fact that he singles Justice Thomas out for attack when his dissent was mild compared to that of Chief Justice Roberts or Justice Scalia. Clearly it was Justice Thomas’s race that he was attacking.

What did Justice Thomas write that triggered Takei’s temporary? dementia?

Human dignity has long been understood in this country to be innate. When the Framers proclaimed in the Declaration of Independence that “all men are created equal” and “endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights,” they referred to a vision of mankind in which all humans are created in the image of God and therefore of inherent worth. That vision is the foundation upon which this Nation was built.

The corollary of that principle is that human dignity cannot be taken away by the government. Slaves did not lose their dignity (any more than they lost their humanity) because the government allowed them to be enslaved. Those held in internment camps did not lose their dignity because the government confined them. And those denied governmental benefits certainly do not lose their dignity because the government denies them those benefits. The government cannot bestow dignity, and it cannot take it away.

This is an altogether unremarkable statement. Profound, yes. But only surprising to someone whose entire identity is rooted in public adulation for living an immoral lifestyle. For Takei dignity isn’t something he’s ever known or will ever achieve.
