.@Voxdotcom shows why no one trusts the media

You’ve read this opening paragraph before.

I’m going to do this for a while so that maybe the lesson sinks in. Earlier in the week, the Washington Post’s Chris Cillizza was mewling about a Gallup poll that showed virtually no one in the public trusted the media. That same day it was revealed that CBS News had employed a Clinton operative had helped shape CBS News’s coverage of Benghazi to give cover to Hillary.

Needless to say, the Pope’s visit distressed liberals. For all of his Latin American affection for Peronist politics and conspiracy theories, he remains theologically very sound. The libertine left built up an image of a Pope who would endorse sticking anything anywhere and do away with that whole silly notion of ‘sin.’

But the meeting angered gay activists and came as a frustrating letdown for gay and other liberal American Catholics, many of whom had been encouraged by an earlier remark by Pope Francis that “If someone is gay and searches for the Lord and has good will, who am I to judge?”

The comment was widely interpreted as a signal that the Church’s hardline stance on homosexuality was softening, a perception that the pope said little to change during his U.S. visit.

What they failed to understand was that this statement was nothing more than a restatement of ancient Christian theology of love the sinner and hate the sin. They also missed the implication that a person who is involved in a homosexual relationship isn’t searching for the Lord. The Catechism of the Catholic Church states:

2357 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity,141 tradition has always declared that “homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered.”142 They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.

2358 The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God’s will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord’s Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.

2359 Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection.

In other words, homosexuals are called to the chastity, just as unmarried heterosexuals are. The fiction that the left spreads about, that someone can be both a ‘faithful Catholic’ and engaged in a homosexual relationship, is just balderdash and the Pope has no authority to change it as it is based on Divine Revelation.

A writer at Vox (their tagline is actually “the smartest thinkers, the toughest questions” — I am not making that up) weighed in on the subject as only a “smartest thinker” can do with one of the “toughest questions.” This guy, named German Lopez, is monumentally unqualified for most anything other the working at Vox. There he claims to cover “criminal justice, drug policy, and LGBTQ issues.” And he does so in the way only a pompous inexperienced recent graduate of a mediocre journalism program at a mediocre school can.  Umm… yeah… drugs and LGBTQ…

lopez

‘Nuff said.

Anyway “smart thinker” German Lopez had this to say:

This is the guy who, in Cillizza’s view, holds society together. This is the guy who is going to give us objective journalism. A guy who can’t comprehend that you can’t be bigoted against homosexual acts any more than you can be bigoted against pedophilia (::gasp. Did I say that?) or murder or kidnapping or eating or any other activity. He doesn’t have the mental firepower to comprehend that being concerned for the state of someone’s immortal soul is an act of love.

And we are supposed to be surprised when only the media seems to trust the media.
