I don’t for a minute think Donald Trump personally hit the “Send” button on this tweet but it belies a lack of discipline in the campaign and has the unmistakable odor of desperation about it:

For the past few days, Trump has been going after Ben Carson on his rather exotic view of the purpose of Egyptian pyramids:

White House hopeful Donald Trump on Thursday poked fun at GOP presidential rival Ben Carson for his theory that the Egyptian pyramids were used to store grain, not serve as tombs for pharaohs.

“I think I’ll have to put that into my repertoire when I talk about Ben,” the real estate tycoon said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”
“That was a strange … that was a strange deal,” Trump added.

And Carson’s personal life story:

The Carson story is either a total fabrication or, if true, even worse-trying to hit mother over the head with a hammer or stabbing friend!

The pyramid story is irrelevant but fair game. In my view the attack on Carson’s personal recollections is simply dumb. Be that as it may, Trump has apparently decided that the way for him to get back into the lead in the polls is to attack Ben Carson. It is difficult to see how that strategy works. What is interesting about that, now-deleted, Tweet is that Trump actually attacks Ben Carson supporters in the same way his supporters have been attacked: that they have to be idiots for supporting Carson.

But if he is going to attack someone he should get rid of the illegal alien he currently has on his Twitter account and get someone who can spell “stab”.
