The one thing that is clear is that nothing in Ford’s testimony is going to change any minds. If you found her credible yesterday, then she was credible today. If you found her story preposterous yesterday, you found it even more so today. I’m clearly with the latter camp. So here’s my view.

She can’t remember anything about her alleged incident beyond the fact that Brett Kavanaugh and Mark Judge were there. She admits she doesn’t know how she got to the party, how many people were there (though she’s given five different numbers), where the party was, or how she got home. But Kavanaugh is seared, seared in her memory.

She has a fear of flying that only kicks in when she’s asked to testify about her allegations.

She can’t remember giving her therapist’s notes to the Washington Post but the Post says she did.

Here are some highlights:

But then you have this dumbf***ery that has become the hallmark of Conservative Inc.

No evidence. Four people deny it happened. She has given five different accounts of the number of people at the party. She can’t remember anything about the incident. She lied about being afraid to fly. And yet, if we don’t push for Kavanaugh to step down we might not get invited to the really good parties where we can complain about how utterly bourgeois and proletarian Republican voters are.

I don’t know how this will turn out. But if it turns on the merits then one has to say that the story Ford told simply does not add up. But…

You don’t thank someone for showing up if you are going to say the other guy is telling the truth.

So nothing is taken for granted.
