My colleagues Brandon Morse (WATCH: Ocasio-Cortez Clowns Herself While Trying to Grill Wells Fargo CEO) and bonchie (AOC Doubles Down on Insane Questioning, Doesn’t Understand Liability) have chronicled some of the hilarity brought by Democrat freshman New York representative and all-around dunderkind, former bartender Alexandria Ocasio Cortez to yesterday’s hearing involving Wells Fargo CEO Timothy Sloan.

The overarching theme of Ocasio Cortez’s largely incoherent and totally riotous clown act was here insistence that a bank is responsible for all the actions of its customers. The way that would play out in real life would be that if a bank loaned you money for a house and you stocked it with prepubescent girls and invited Bob Menendez and Jeffrey Epstein over for a party, the banker would be liable for whatever happened.

AOC took the opportunity to show her vast and superior knowledge:

First off, she is either deliberately or rather stupidly conflating selling a drink to someone who later ends up being drunk and selling more drinks to an obvious drunk. Second, she is deliberately or stupidly confusing an illegal activity (driving drunk) with legal activity (like financing lawful construction or purchases). If you follow her logic, assuming that this is what she’s showing, then a bank is liable of manslaughter every time it finances a car because it knows in advance that tens of thousands die in auto and truck related accidents each year.

When I watched the video of AOC in action I was reminded of an experience I had that I’ve chronicled before:

I was present at Maxine Waters’ inaugural performance in Congress. She was a freshman member of House Veterans Affairs Committee. The witness panel included my boss–this was back in the days when I was trusted to prepare Congressional testimony and to sit behind my boss to provide answers–but it also had the director of the Veterans Health Administration, this is the part of the Department of Veterans Affairs that oversees the VA medical system. Several of my contemporaries on the Committee staff were joking about Waters but they wouldn’t say anything specific. “Wait and see,” was all they would say.

Everything went fine. And then Waters unleashed on the head of the VHA for perceived misfeasance in another part of the VA entirely. All the poor guy could do was sit there and nod and agree to look into the horror she was incensed about. And the staffers were becoming incontinent from laughter.

Early on I thought that AOC was just a very immature person, operating way beyond her experience or knowledge, who could be gradually seasoned and perhaps become a political danger downstream. I no longer think that. I think she has a lukewarm IQ, she’s wildly corrupt, she’s blindingly ignorant, she has surrounded herself with similar idiots, and she’s still convinced she’s the smartest person in the room.

Her greatest use right now is as a stalking horse to force large numbers of Democrat members to either go along with her idiocy or to face the wrath of her fan club.
