As we pass the first anniversary of the US withdrawal from the disastrous Iran nuclear deal ineptly negotiated by John Kerry, tensions are escalating in the Persian Gulf and the US has just slapped additional sanctions on all exports of metals manufactured in Iran. In addition, the waivers for the purchase of Iranian oil that had been in effect have expired.

President Trump was holding a press conference today, ostensibly on medical issues, and he handed out some medicine to John Kerry.

Trump told reporters at the White House that he would not rule out the possibility of military action in Iran amid escalating tensions before laying into Kerry for his involvement.

“What I’d like to see with Iran, I’d like to see them call me,” Trump said. “John Kerry speaks to them a lot, and John Kerry tells them not to call. That’s a violation of the Logan Act, and frankly he should be prosecuted on that.”

Trump added that his “people don’t want to do anything,” and that “only the Democrats do that kind of stuff.”

What Trump is talking about is something that he has talked about before, that is, Kerry, who still pretends to be an American citizen carrying on a personal diplomacy with the Iranians in which he seems to be acting as their adviser on how to best evade US sanctions.

Just a couple of thoughts on this.

First, the Logan Act is bullsh** and anytime you read anything where some alleged lawyer is claiming someone violated the Logan Act, you are reading something by someone who is either a) a highly partisan tool who is trying punk you or b) a freakin moron. Or some combination thereof.

Second, I would love to see Kerry indicted under the Logan Act and use him as a test case to have that monstrosity declared unconstitutional…or to put Kerry in jail if the law is upheld.
