News Summary From the Week That Was (15 – 21 March)

(AP Photo/Kim Kwang Hyon, File)

This is a weekly summary of news that the legacy media and Democrats have obfuscated for partisan political reasons.

1. Let’s start off with an article that sheds more light on Obama-era FBI corruption:

Former acting Attorney General Sally Yates and other senior Obama-era Justice Department officials told the Russia special prosecutor in private interviews they had concerns about the FBI’s conduct in investigating former Trump National Security Adviser Mike Flynn, according to memos that paint a dark portrait of the bureau’s behavior.

The documents, which include a letter from Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team transmitting exculpatory evidence to Flynn’s defense lawyers in 2018, offer the most detailed montage to date about why Attorney General Bill Barr recently appointed a special prosecutor to review the government’s actions in the Flynn case.

2. Don’t forget that the Center for Disease Control is part of the Deep State, too:

CDC personnel had managed to mishandle Ebola virus samples, accidentally sending samples of the live virus to CDC labs. And the heads of the health bureaucracy blamed the lack of funding for their failure to have an Ebola vaccine.

The self-quarantine measures adopted in response to the coronavirus outbreak are partially a response to the lessons of the Ebola disaster.

But during the Ebola crisis, Democrats tried to shift responsibility from the Obama administration by blaming Republicans for cutting the CDC’s budget from $6.5 billion to $5.9 billion. Sound familiar? Where do those billions for the CDC actually go? Among other things, pushing gun control. The terrible budget deal from December allocated $25 million to the CDC and NIH to study gun violence.

During the Ebola crisis, the CDC had been spending a mere $2.6 million on gun violence studies. But the CDC has a history of wasting money on everything from a $106 million visitor’s center with Japanese gardens, a $200K gym, a transgender beauty pageant, not to mention promoting bike paths.

The CDC is a classic example of a progressive success story, an agency created to fight malaria by spraying DDT, whose original mission has long since become politically incorrect and which instead adopted a politically correct search for the social root causes of diseases like syphilis and AIDS.

Unlike fighting malaria by spraying DDT, fighting syphilis by combatting racism doesn’t work.

3. The fascists on the Left face a dilemma, and the Wuhan virus is a clarifying agent.

What happens when the supposed dictator won’t dictate?

This is the conundrum confronted by the harshest critics of President Trump, who have gone from warning he is a budding despot to complaining he hasn’t done enough to impose his will during the coronavirus crisis.

They can’t believe that he didn’t urge sports leagues to cancel their seasons, call for school systems to close or tell bars and restaurants to shutter before this wave of closures began.

4. The Chinese covered up about the Wuhan virus, and the rest of the world is paying the price.

As a country, we’ve got our hands full right now. But while we’re sitting in various forms of self-quarantine, we — and a lot of other people around the world — will have a lot of time to read about the Chinese government destroying samples and suppressing information about the coronavirus in December.

And the Chinese authorities spending January “denying it could spread between humans — something doctors had known was happening since late December — and went ahead with a Chinese Lunar New Year banquet involving tens of thousands of families in Wuhan.” Doctors say that in Wuhan, people who had no connection to that Hua’nan market were among the first showing the symptoms — suggesting that from the beginning, Chinese authorities should have understood that human-to-human transmission was already happening.

Even by the Chinese government’s own account of events, President Xi Jinping knew about the disease for two weeks before making any public comments about it.

We are in this mess in large part because of the decisions of the Chinese government. And once it’s safe to come out, we’re going to face some extremely consequential decisions about how we choose to treat the Chinese government after their catastrophic secrecy, coverups, blundering, and disregard for human life around the globe.

5. Not only was there no “Russian collusion,” the only charges Mueller brought against actual Russians were dropped – with prejudice this week.

The “Russian collusion” case ended in an embarrassing whimper Monday. It turns out that in order to have a “Russian collusion” case, one must have “Russians” and “collusion.” As we found out in the Mueller report from last year, there was no collusion with President Trump. On Monday, Mueller’s prosecutors admitted they’re running out of Russians, too.

The charges against three Russian “bot” farms and 13 individuals in Mueller’s so-called Russian collusion case were dropped with prejudice on Monday. But the conclusion of the case was never in doubt.

6. More proof that the legacy media are the enemies of the American people.

On Wednesday, President Trump and members of his crisis response team were questioned four times during a press briefing on the White House’s plans to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, which originated in China, about whether it is racist to call the disease the “Chinese virus.”

Four times.

America is in the grip of a viral pandemic that originated in China. The virus is in more than 120 countries and has killed more than 8,000 people precisely because of China’s incompetence and malicious arrogance. And two White House correspondents used their access to the leader of the free world Wednesday to waste his and everyone else’s time with inane, vapid, useless questions based on Chinese communist propaganda.

7. The media keep circling the drain.

The Chinese Coronavirus Bat Soup Syndrome has taken what’s left of the media’s reputation, poured gasoline on it, then lit it on fire before flattening it with a bulldozer and finally having a Scat Francisco hobo download last night’s free bologna sandwich on the remains.

This was the media’s time to shine, a moment when we needed clear, objective information delivered by intelligent people who asked the important questions people care about so Americans could protect themselves and their families. It was a critical juncture when the media could step up and show us all that yes, the media is still important. It still matters. It still deserves our respect.

Instead we got, “Mr. President, isn’t accurately pointing out that the coronavirus originated in China racist?”

8. As usual, the Democrats are politicizing the Wuhan virus for what they believe to be their own personal political gain. It won’t work out they way they think it will work out, as discussed here:

It’s clear that the Democrats see the coronavirus outbreak as an opportunity rather than an epidemic. Having failed to bring down President Trump with ridiculous conspiracy theories involving Russia and Ukraine, they are desperately attempting to convince the public that he is somehow exacerbating the COVID-19 crisis. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer, for example, issued a joint press release Sunday that included the following fiction: “President Trump continues to manufacture needless chaos within his administration and it is hampering the government’s response to the coronavirus outbreak.” Predictably, Pelosi and Schumer fail to provide any objective facts to support this claim.

This is just the latest in a series of irresponsible assertions by the Democrats. The purported front-runner for their party’s presidential nomination, former Vice President Joe Biden, falsely claimed during a debate in late February that the Trump administration had hampered the federal response to COVID-19 by cutting funding for the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH): “We [the Obama–Biden administration] increased the budget of the CDC. We increased the NIH budget.… He’s wiped all that out.… He cut the funding for the entire effort.” This balderdash was too much for the fact checkers at AP, who were quick to debunk the falsehood.

The reality is that the president, the CDC, and the NIH are doing as well as most reasonable voters would expect with the coronavirus outbreak. When it becomes obvious that the Democrats have cynically exploited this serious public health risk in one last attempt to damage Trump, the voters will react with revulsion. They will reelect Trump and return the leadership of the House to his party.

9. Was a US senator involved in insider trading before the stock market went south?

Fox News host Tucker Carlson issued a scathing rebuke of Republican Sen. Richard Burr after it was reported he sold a large amount of stock before the coronavirus disrupted the stock market.

The senator from North Carolina, who heads the Senate Intelligence Committee, offloaded between $628,000 and $1.72 million worth of stock on Feb. 13, days before the markets plummeted, ProPublica reported. There has been no indication that the senator had inside information, but he did have daily coronavirus briefings around the time and has faced rising criticism and calls for an investigation.

Carlson called for Burr to resign and face charges if he is found to have participated in insider trading.

Read the rest here. It’s not just Burr; there are other senators who apparently did the same thing. Carlson is right: if they participated in insider trading they need to resign and face charges.

10. Adam Schiff is trying to cover his tracks; Judicial Watch is on the case:

The House Intelligence Committee and its chairman Adam Schiff invoked “sovereign immunity” in a motion to dismiss a Judicial Watch lawsuit seeking to obtain controversial phone records subpoenas issued during the Trump impeachment inquiry.

The committee’s subpoenas of phone records ultimately led to the publication of multiple Americans’ phone records, including those of reporter John Solomon, California Rep. Devin Nunes, the president’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani and others.

In the motion, lawyers from the Office of General Counsel for the House of Representatives assert four reasons for dismissing the case, including protection under the Constitution’s Speech or Debate Clause.

Read the rest here. If anybody needs to face the music for sedition and related crimes, it’s Schiff.

11. And finally, the ChiComs need to be held accountable for the spread of the Wuhan virus:

The West must make China pay dearly for its maleficence. As of December 2019, U.S. debt to China was $1.07 trillion. We can begin the process of just retribution and compensation there. We also have the option of imposing tariffs on China and earmark funds collected from those special tariffs to a selected account aimed at assisting those adversely affected by the Chinese coronavirus. Lastly, the United States must come to the realization that manufacturing jobs must be brought back to America’s shores and America must be restored to the manufacturing giant it once was.

For far too long, Democrats and even some Republicans took a soft approach on China, disregarding its abysmal human rights record, its theft of trade secrets and intellectual property, its unrestricted hacking activities, its illegal encroachment on the South and East China Seas and its attempts to undermine its democratic neighbors like Taiwan. Former Democratic candidate for president, Mike Bloomberg, even went so far as to deny that China was ruled by dictatorship. But the Wuhan virus has brought clarity to China’s malign activities. This is one thing that all Americans, Democrats and Republicans, should agree upon without equivocation.

Here are this week’s “honorable mention” articles:

With the Wuhan virus dominating the news, we have learned a few things this week: the Democrats and the legacy media are self-identifying themselves as they align their rhetoric with the ChiComs; the Democrats care more about politicizing the virus than seeking solutions and making useful recommendations; and the President was right to implement the travel ban early on, remove FDA roadblocks to early drug testing, and accelerate the public-private partnership that is unleashing free enterprise to combat the virus. Meanwhile, Mueller’s indictment of the only Russians he could find was tossed out, Judicial Watch continues to doggedly pursue Hillary Clinton and now Adam Schiff, and some US senators may have been involved in insider trading. This year has been lit so far, and it’s only March!

The end.
