House Intel Turns Their Wrath on the REAL Enemies: FBI and DOJ Under Investigation

Members of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence near the end of five hours of questioning of FBI Director James Comey and National Security Agency Director Adm. Michael Rogers on allegations of Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, on Capitol Hill in Washington, Monday, March 20, 2017. From left on bottom row, Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif. (AP Photo/J. Scott Applewhite)

We’ll know soon what is on those 4 pages of Rep. Devin Nunes’ mystery memo, since his committee has voted to release the memo to the public, national security be damned.

To be clear, some have suggested that what we’re going to see is a whole lot of buildup that results in nothing. There will be Nunes’ unsubstantiated claims, which will be taken as the gospel truth by the same people that call anything remotely critical of Donald Trump “fake news.”

These are the same people who will read legitimate news stories about Trump and still demand video evidence, along with DNA samples and a notarized letter of confession before they consider anything outside of their echo chamber of MAGA love.

BUT, if Devin Nunes, who acted like a Trump toady from the beginning cobbles together something they want to believe, they’ll believe it with no more than his word.

We’ll have to wait and see.

All of this is for an ultimate goal of shutting down the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election, along with any collusion or obstruction.

In order to do that, however, the Department of Justice and the FBI – two agencies that have worked in conjunction to keep the nation free from threats, both international and domestic – must be discredited, destroyed, brought down, and replaced with something more akin to a secret police force, accountable only to the Trump crown.

With that in mind, the House Intelligence Committee, chaired by Nunes, has announced an investigation into both the Justice Department and the FBI.

The rules for beginning an investigation state that the majority party must consult with the minority party before launching an investigation. That apparently didn’t happen.

Ranking member Adam Schiff says Democrats on the committee were only informed of the planned investigation on Monday night.

“We learned about that for the first time here today,” Schiff said. “Now it has been publicly reported from time to time that there was a subset of the majority working on some kind of an investigation or inquiry into the Department of Justice and FBI, but apparently [Chairman Devin Nunes, R-Calif.,] made it formal today, according to the majority, the FBI’s under investigation and so is the Department of Justice.”

Schiff called the investigations “a wholesale broadside” against the Justice Department and FBI.

And that’s what it feels like. Nunes’ spokesperson, however, says everyone was informed months ago, when Nunes went on the Trump propaganda network, Fox News, to talk about it.

The spokesperson also noted that the committee-issued subpoenas to the Justice Department and FBI in August for documents relating to the controversial dossier linking President Trump to Russia were a “strong sign” of the inquiry into the Justice Department and FBI.

Politico reported in December a small group of GOP members on the committee had been meeting secretly to investigate the Justice Department and FBI’s handling of the dossier and hoped to release a detailed report of their findings in early 2018.

If they want to investigate the decision making behind letting Hillary Clinton walk on what was obvious corruption on her part, in regards to her private server, I can totally get behind that.

If they ignore that unbelievable perversion of justice – something supposedly of high importance to the “Lock her up!” crowd – and go straight for the Russia probe, then you can be assured that we are living in a post-America world, and it is the Republicans that got us here.

It feels so good to have walked away with principles intact.
