CPAC Bomber Continues Her Assault on Trumpism With Sunday Morning Op-Ed

Yeah. I just can’t get enough of this.

I told you last night about conservative author, Mona Charen, and her hardcore truth drop at CPAC 2018 on Saturday.

Charen sat on a panel discussion of conservative women, addressing the recent #MeToo movement, in regards to feminism and sexual abuse.

It’s an important conversation to have, not just among liberal feminist movie stars, but conservative women, as well.

The kicker, however, is that Charen was not content to simply blather on blithely about the topic. She put Republicans and the conservative movement on blast!

Why speak about feminism, sexual abuse or harassment, and the #MeToo movement, or anyone on the left who have been unmasked, if you’re still unwilling to call out those on the right who are just as guilty?

That’s called hypocrisy, ya’ll, and Charen isn’t standing for it.

Said Charen on Saturday:

“I am disappointed in people on our side for being hypocrites about sexual harassers and abusers of women who are in our party, who are sitting in the White House, who brag about their extramarital affairs, who brag about mistreating women,” Charen said, a likely reference to a video of Trump released during his presidential campaign in which he bragged about grabbing women.

“This is a party that endorsed Roy Moore for the Senate in the state of Alabama even though he was a credibly accused child molester. You cannot claim that you stand for women and put up with that,” Charen said.

And yes, I know there are some who disagree about Roy Moore, but many of those on the left have only been “accused,” so what’s the difference?

I’ve personally been called a “man-hater” for not running to Moore’s defense. My position was always that I didn’t know who to believe, but I advised that Christians should temper their response to the accusations to reflect their faith. Moore didn’t do that, himself.

To call me a “man-hater” over that is preposterous. I was raised in a home with only brothers. My only child is a son. Men have been a huge influence on my life, so I’m far from a man-hater.

I’m just not a hypocrite and I abhor the appearance of impropriety in those who seek to be our representatives. The letter after their name doesn’t matter.

Charen’s unexpected truth bomb was met with boos from the CPAC crowd and she had to be escorted from the room by 3 security guards.

That’s how ugly things have become – when the so-called “conservatives” become so strident and repulsed by truth that someone should have to fear speaking it, there’s a real problem within the movement.

“There is nothing more freeing than telling the truth. And it must be done, again and again, by those of us who refuse to be absorbed into this brainless, sinister, clownish thing called Trumpism, by those of us who refuse to overlook the fools, frauds and fascists attempting to glide along in his slipstream into respectability,” Charen wrote in an op-ed for The New York Times.

Yeah, I stood up and shouted at that one.

Preach, Sister, PREACH!

She wasn’t done.

“For traditional conservatives, the past two years have felt like a Twilight Zone episode,” Charen wrote. “Politicians, activists and intellectuals have succumbed with numbing regularity, betraying every principle they once claimed to uphold. But there remains a vigorous remnant of dissenters.”

This is so much truth, although it does seem the remnant of dissenters has dwindled to a stubborn few, clinging to their principles like driftwood in an angry tide of apologists and true believers in the ways of Trumpism.

Charen, who worked for Ronald Reagan, as well as former New York Rep. Jack Kemp, said that many who have been lifelong Republicans no longer feel welcome in a GOP that embraces people like Trump.

She pointed to the invite of Trump loyalists and those who mimic his views, such as former Milwaukee County sheriff, David Clarke, and French politician, Marion Le Pen.

These aren’t the people who used to be the mainstream of conservatism in America. At least, some of us didn’t think so.

We need people like Mona Charen out there reminding us of what the GOP used to be, because this cancer of Trumpism does not represent the best of us, and blatant hypocrisy on the issues does not serve us.
