Here's how I like to think of my congressman, freshman Rep. Suhas Subramanyam (D-VA): he's kind of like Barack Obama's mom jeans if they were a person. Dull. Plain. Supremely embarrassing. Remembered for being so cringe. Subramanyam last made headlines not because of his intellectual prowess or political skills, but because of a video he made that was rather unbecoming of the office he holds. Take a look.

Yikes.
To show how relatable he his, Subramanyam filmed himself on the House subway system on his way to hold "this administration accountable." If we're being honest, President Trump has probably never heard of this guy (although the congressman does like to sneak into photos with Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) to show he's hanging with the cool kids). Needless to say, sufferers of secondhand embarrassment were in agony after the subway stunt.

And, now, Subramanyam may have outdone himself with his recent comments about illegals—of which there are many in his Northern Virginia district—being detained and deported by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). He says these poor souls have done nothing wrong and have certainly not committed any crime.

SUBRAMANYAM: [That's] different from going up to people without telling them what they've done -- in masks -- and putting them in detention facilities. And, I think, the people that are being approached did not commit any crimes, were not even suspected of any crimes.
Section 1325 of Title 8 of the United States Code would like a word, congressman. It states in no uncertain terms that it is a crime to enter the U.S. illegally. Therefore, every person picked up ICE has, by their very presence on our soil, committed a crime.
Subramanyam knows this, of course, but wouldn't dare say it out loud, and certainly not in front of a town hall full of his left-leaning constituents. Like most Democrats, illegals are his bread and butter. His meal ticket. It's to his very great personal advantage to keep them here and pretend they're not criminals.
But the fact is that it's to his constituents' great disadvantage to say the influx of illegals into our communities hasn't had serious and often violent consequences for locals. Let's refresh the congressman's memory on that front; here's what illegals have wrought within Virginia's 10th congressional district:
- An illegal from El Salvador allegedly carjacked and murdered a grandmother in July of 2024;
- Two illegals face charges of shooting up a car carrying two individuals in a road rage incident in December of 2024;
- Another El Salvadoran illegal has been charged with stabbing a man to death in April of 2025;
- An alleged leader of the violent MS-13 gang, an illegal from Venezuela, was arrested in March of 2025.
And that's just a sampling of the recent violence to which Rep. Subramanyam is happy to turn a blind eye. The fact is that his district is overrun with illegals who aren't sitting at home knitting and doing good deeds, but are instead committing serious and often violent crimes against actual citizens. He's playing a dangerous game with his willful ignorance.
The next time wannabe cool guy Subramanyam hops on the House subway and tries to convince everyone he’s a man of the people, let's remember what he’s actually doing: trying to distract from the fact he's running interference for illegals who’ve broken our laws with their presence and, in too many cases, wreaked havoc on our communities. The families in his district are, unfortunately, stuck with a congressman who stands against them by prioritizing criminals who should never have been here in the first place.
