Jennifer Rubin Rips Pence, McConnell and Ryan At McCain Service.

Now that Sen. John McCain has been laid to rest it is time to do some post analysis of the week-long life celebration that the media had.

First topic up…

Jennifer Rubin of the Washington Post is GRUMPY.

Now most of the readers here at Red State might say “Who in the hell is Jennifer Rubin?” and that is a fair question.

She is an opinion writer currently at the Post and in previous incarnations The Weekly Standard, Commentary, and Human Events. What she is really well known for is her amazing crush on former GOP candidate for president Mitt Romney and her blazing hatred now for all things Donald Trump. Case in point a brief glimpse from CNN Money two years ago.

She digs the establishment groups. A. Lot.

So I was stunned when I read her article on Friday titled Three men unfit to eulogize John McCain and figured two of them would be the men who beat McCain, Bush 43 and Obama 44 and a villain to be named later.

Nope.

She picked Vice President Mike Pence, Speaker of the House Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

You read that right. The three guys in Washington D.C. that make vanilla ice cream seem exciting are unfit to honor their colleague in a service at the United State Capitol. What could they have done to have made Jen think this was a travesty of epic proportions?

Here is a sampling…

On Vice President Pence,

Consider Pence for a moment. He began with a ludicrous declaration that broke all records for disingenuousness: “The president asked me to be here on behalf of a grateful nation, to pay a debt of honor and respect to a man who served our country throughout his life, in uniform and in public office. It’s my great honor to be here.” President Trump despised McCain and routinely mocked him. Suggesting that Pence was there to represent Trump would require him to insult and mock McCain.

So the President did NOT ask Pence to be there? Trump did authorize the use of the plane that Pence generally uses to fly Sen. McCain back to Washington D.C. and maybe the VP was just checking if everything was ok?

On Sen. McConnell.

McConnell acknowledged McCain as a “generational leader in the Senate.” McConnell said that McCain represented all the values the Capitol stands for. But what does McConnell stand for? He has accommodated Trump, ignoring or rationalizing his worst behavior. McConnell personally destroyed the comity in the Senate by denying Judge Merrick Garland a hearing and then extinguishing the filibuster for Supreme Court justices.

The Democrats are still mad about the Merrick Garland hearing mostly because they didn’t get to do that to a Republican Presidents nominee first.

Last but not least, here is what Jennifer Rubin had to say about Mitt Romney’s running mate in 2012, Paul Ryan.

And then there was Ryan, come to pay his respects. When he repeated McCain’s admonition that “our identities and sense of worth were not circumscribed but enlarged by serving good causes bigger than ourselves,” you wondered whether Ryan is capable of self-reflection. He lauded McCain: “The sense of purpose that a battle joined can bring. The common humanity that burns in each of our hearts. . . . This is one of the bravest souls our nation has ever produced.” When exactly has Ryan exemplified those qualities? When has he demonstrated an ounce of courage to do what is right rather than expedient?

I think someone may have forgotten that Mitt and Paul like each other still and Mitt would never like a villain like the one that Jennifer Rubin is describing here.

So what is going on here? How can three of the least controversial elected officials ( personality wise) be such villains and not worthy of delivering some respectful remarks to a man that they liked?

I’m not sure being it is always dangerous to guess what is going through anyone else mind but it seems like pure anger.

Can you imagine how mad people like Rubin will get if Trump runs and wins in 2020?

Buckle up your seatbelts and get ready for a long two years after this November.
