Famed Watergate reporter, Bob Woodward, sure knows how to do a lead up to a book launch. In his new book “FEAR: Trump in the White House by Bob Woodward” there are some things that are bound to tick off President #45.
Here are some samples from Axios:
Secretary of Defense James Mattis allegedly said…
After Trump left a meeting with Defense Secretary James Mattis on North Korea, Woodward recounts, “Mattis was particularly exasperated and alarmed, telling close associates that the president acted like — and had the understanding of — ‘a fifth- or sixth-grader.'”
Chief of Staff John Kelly allegedly said…
Chief of Staff John Kelly on Trump: “He’s an idiot. It’s pointless to try to convince him of anything. He’s gone off the rails. We’re in Crazytown. I don’t even know why any of us are here. This is the worst job I’ve ever had.”
Trump (allegedly) on Attorney General Jeff Sessions…
“This guy is mentally retarded. He’s this dumb Southerner. … He couldn’t even be a one-person country lawyer down in Alabama.”
This is just the clean stuff we can show here at a family blog like Red State. The language gets much more colorful.
Woodward is famous for getting the Washington power brokers to talk and it looks like this is no exception. What is different here is that he has never dealt with a President like Trump and the blowback on this is totally unpredictable.
Trump has had no problem going after his Attorney General. Will POTUS now turn his Twitter account fire to Mattis? Will John Kelly decide that he is not going to stick around another year as earlier reported last month? Will Carl Bernstein ever stop comparing Trump to Nixon on CNN and saying X is worse than Watergate?
This primer of these quotes for the release of this book next Tuesday, Sept 11th, is sure to get Washington going and we all will be waiting to see what the fallout will be.
