Greta Thunberg Told to Study Economics by U.S. Treasury Secretary Before Lecturing Anyone.

HOW DARE HE INDEED

One of the more confusing things in the last couple of years is the emergence of children as experts on anything other than Taylor Swift songs. This does not mean that we should not be listening and also talking to the young minds full of mush, but treating them as experts on most things is just plain silly.

As I wrote here yesterday at Red State While Impeachment Drones On, Trump Slams “Prophets of Doom” in Switzerland, President Trump before wrapping up his two-day visit to the World Economic Forum called out the “Prophets of Doom” that are constantly telling us we need to do more on everything. Of course, at a significant cost to the U.S Taxpayer. Young Greta was in the audience for that speech and I’m sure was not pleased.

Now comes news that the United States Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin picked right up where his boss left off by letting the world press know we are not really interested in being lectured to by a 17-year-old kid.

From The Guardian

Donald Trump’s treasury secretary has dismissed Greta Thunberg’s call for immediate fossil fuel divestment, saying the 17-year-old activist should go to college and study economics.

In a withering slapdown on the climate emergency movement, Steven Mnuchin pretended not to know who Thunberg was, before dismissing her concerns as ill-informed.

Asked whether calls for public and private-sector divestment from fossil fuel companies would threaten US growth, Mnuchin jibed: “Is she the chief economist? Who is she, I’m confused” – before clarifying that he was joking.

“After she goes and studies economics in college she can come back and explain that to us,” Mnuchin added, at a press conference at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

BRAVO Mr. Secretary.

The whole notion that a 17-year-old should be lecturing anyone about how things work is adorable for a T.V. show like Doogie Howser but not for stuff in like real life.

Everyone has the right to an opinion ( at least in the United States, unless you tick off some social media giant mythical rules) and I’m all for expressing those. Yet why in the hell are people in policy-making decisions areas taking the advice from these activists that barely have any life experience. Kids like Greta are just merely photo ops props for people that say they care. If you really want to show us you care than try taking coach and not first-class to the next conference.

I dare you.

When Greta and Al Gore or Leo DiCaprio actually start taking on real polluters like China or Russia and India than I will be impressed and maybe even onboard for a couple of things. The numbers are in and those countries are lapping the United States and Europe in pollution. Why not any lecturing or finger-wagging to those countries?

Putin have you scared?

Thankfully this country right now is not going down the road of listening to children that have watched YouTube videos and treat them like pros. The Trump administration has gotten this one 100% right. Possibly at the end of Greta going to university and doing some learning, she can come back to teach us a thing or two.

I’m hoping Steve Mnuchin is still there and willing to listen.
