You win some and you lose some in court and barber extraordinaire, Karl Manke, has won it all so far. As I wrote here last week about Mr. Manke HARDBALL: Michigan Suspends 77-Year-Old Barbers License for Staying Open During Whitmer Shutdown, Karl dared defy Gov. Whitmer and the A.G. sent in the regulatory dogs to suspend his license.

The state failed to prove its case.

From WXYZ Channel 7

A judge on Thursday rejected a request to force scissors out of the hands of a defiant Michigan barber during the coronavirus pandemic.

The state health department failed to show that Karl Manke’s shop was a specific threat to public health, Shiawassee County Judge Matthew Stewart said.

Manke reopened his shop in Owosso on May 4, drawing customers from across the state who were inspired by his plea for freedom from a government shutdown. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said barber shops and hair salons are risky places because of the contagious virus.

This Governor speaks so adorably about how she cares and that they are using data and science to make decisions but they do not appear to be able to deliver the goods. How can cutting hair be a danger to spreading COVID-19 yet going golfing is not? How about going to Meijer or Kroger? Remember when we couldn’t buy mulch from big stores but could from smaller ones?

Data and science indeed.

That a 77-year-old man is the face of the resistance here in Michigan is another example of how the generations behind his could learn a thing or two about questioning authority and not being so soft. Way too many people have just nodded their heads in agreement and put on a mask to keep themselves safe even long after the mask is filled with your breath from hours of use.

All because someone from the government told you it was to save your life.

How about taking some advice from America’s Barber, Karl Manke, and respectfully standing up and saying no thanks and thinking for yourself.

It might be a great way to Make America Great Again.
