EDITOR OF REDSTATE

On for Neal Boortz

I will be filling in for Neal Boortz today from 8:30am to 1pm ET. You can listen live tonight on the WSB live stream and call in at 1-877-310-2100.

I’ll get into the shooting at the Family Research Council, the President’s now near habitual lying, the Navy SEALs speaking out against the President, and at 12 o’clock our own Jeff Emanuel joins me to talk about heightened tensions between Israel and Iran and the implications.

Consider this an open thread.

So not only will there be no prosecution of Corzine, but now he is considering starting a hedge fund. For close to four years now, Obama has not only subsidized the too big to fail banks, but his administration has either looked the other way at all manner of criminal activity or settled for a fine without any criminal prosecution (MF Global, libor manipulation, robosigning abuses, making fraudulent representations when selling mortagege backed securities, skimming customers on foreign exchange transactions (see Bank of New york and State Street), and trading with Iran (Standard Charter). Why is Romney not killing him on this issue? Prosecuting criminal wrong doing is not the same as attacking capitalism, yet Romney is ceding the issue to Obama, allowing him to claim he has been tough on the banks when in fact he has been their hand maiden. Erick, I hope you raise this issue with someone who matters. This should be Romney?s issue, not Obama?s. If you disagree, Could you please post something, as it is a complete mystery to me. Thanks.

  • Common_Cents

    It is no different.

I guess crime pays when you are connected, and if you commit a crime, do it up really really big and give to the current administration re-election fund.

  • inovrmihd

This should be his issue. What is wrong with him?

  • Repair_Man_Jack

to get you to actually support the candidate who doesn’t rely on Jon Corzine as a bundler… Interesting set of priorities there for someone worried about White Collar crime in the financial industry.

  • PowerToThePeople

it always helps campaigns to get into the blame game when it comes to fanatics who go on shooting sprees. Other than the heartfelt “our prayers are with you” comment that he has already given, there is nothing more he should say.

Turning shootings into political points or political finger pointing is a huge turnoff for the majority of the electorate.

Going through your comments, it seems really funny that a moron such as yourself would call someone who is quite successful clueless. I am starting to think you are an OWS member or supporter here to spew BS all while trying to act as if you vote for our side.

  • http://www.justintribble.com Justin Tribble

Romney should be talking about this all day and all night. How does the campaign miss these talking points? This is huge.

    Financial Fraud Conviction Scorecard:

    Bush: 1300+, Clinton: 1000+, Obama: 0.0 (+/-)

?Clinton?s DOJ prosecuted over 1,800 S&L (savings and loans) executives, senior officials, and directors, and over 1,000 of them were sent to jail,? GAI adds.

But, despite having ?promised more of the same,? especially in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis, the Obama administration?s DOJ has not brought criminal charges against a single major Wall Street executive.

  • PowerToThePeople

figured you were smart enough to use the reply to this button and were starting a new conversation based on the comment posted by the thread author dealing with the shooting. So my shooting rant does not apply to you.

But the rest does as your constant OWS talking points about financial institutes are absurd,.

  • PowerToThePeople

and bringing it up over and over will do nothing but cause most of the people’s eyes to glaze over.

Even if there is a huge need for financial execs arrests, the OWS made it impossible to get public support as they went so far overboard, most of normal society have rejected their claims.

Second, most of the public care more about keeping their job, finding a job, simply surviving in these economical dire times than they do hearing about some bank exec that may have broke some obscure law.

Third and most important, because if Romney gets sidetracked off the debt and economy issues, he loses. He has less than 90 days to drive home to the average moron voter than he has the real plan to fix the economy and bring down the massive unsustainable debt. If he fails to reach out to the voters on this, he loses.

  • http://www.justintribble.com Justin Tribble

… that he make this the platform of his campaign. It’s one of those nuggets you can throw into a stump speech. Something you insert into the talking points. It’s gold.

There’s an underutilized narrative here: Obama’s Wall Street insider-lined administration. Talk about the head of his Jobs Council that never meets, Jeffery “I’m the biggest jobs outsourcer in human history” Immelt. Talk about Corzine. Talk about Geithner. These guys are criminals!

  • checkmate2012

constant talk of millionaires and billionaires and trying to pin that tag on Republicans, would make for a juicy ad with the stats quoted above. More of the cronyism by this admin and more talk and no action.

I think it’s so disingenuous when Corzine, the CEO, isn’t held to at least Sarbanes-Oxley, and prosecuted a la Enron and Ebbers style. Goldman Sachs too.

  • checkmate2012

Davis “may be best known for seconding Obama’s nomination at the Democratic National Convention in 2008, when he served as an Obama campaign co-chairman.”

    from: http://www.floridapoliticalpress.com/2012/08/16/v-p-candidate-paul-ryan-makes-first-stop-in-florida-saturday/

We all know he recently switched parties, but it seems we have another crack in the dome, when someone like this, a former O campaign chairman, supports and stumps for Romney. Ruh roh!

  • inovrmihd

Can you explain what the harm is from Romney’s perspective of pointing out that there have been no prosecutions of any significance under Obama, and that he will enforce the law and actually punish criminal activity?

  • inovrmihd

Are you claiming that there weren’t serious crimes committed buy the banks, and that the lack of prosecutions is not a vulnerability for Obama? What about the most recent charge of Standard Charter dealing with Iran?

  • PowerToThePeople

if you actually marched with them, you are at least an OWS supporter or sympathizer.

And since I only set so much time aside a week to spend with stupid and since you took all that time already, I no longer wish to patronize you.

  • acat

Please cite, with specificity, just where you think there were legal violations.

by “the banks”? [Not, as you've noted "buy" the banks]

If so, please give us a cite, and just so we’re clear a “cite” isn’t “they committed fraud” or “people died so they’re murderers”, it’s a specific reference to the US criminal code or the criminal code a relevant state.

    Can’t produce one? STFU.

  • acat

You should also accept specific State statutes.

(for example, splitting the mortgage note from the property title and failing to register the split is a violation in certain jurisdictions because there’s a tax to be paid every time the note trades paws… IIRC, Michigan)

you do not want to muddle the waters and give The Average American Voter {aka: BooBus Americanii} with too much to digest.
Look at what the Medicare ‘back and forth’ is spawning , currently.
Seniors need reassurance , so this is the most likely reason for this ‘stop-over’.

With so little time left , you’ve got to husband your resources and concentrate on what means the most, to The Most.
Sure, what occurred was/is nasty and underhanded. But that is just part of a list, to many in this country.

Making the election personal ,about you ,your future and your dear friend ‘your wallet’ is what is going to Get Us what Is Needed.
Politics has been said to be “The Art of The Possible”.
This could be seen as demeaning to Art, but Possible is what we’re after here.
What is Possible with 82 days left ? ‘Conservative’ means what it says.
‘Conserve’ your assets and use them wisely.
Use the Brain your Creator gave you. Wisely.

Plus, we’ve got to give The Incoming DOJ some stuff to do.
Who ‘s The A G gonna be? Think on that one……….

  • inovrmihd

I had no idea that someone could be so unaware that financial crimes occurred and that the Obama administration looked the other way. Do I really need to give you a link to the fact that MF Global blew up and Corzine walked, or that Standard Charter illegally traded with Iran for the last 10 years?

    Only in your head.

But you ‘advance your cause’ and shift to name-calling.
One of The Three Indicators you are conversing with a Progressive.

One down and Two to go………..

    Did you ‘even read’ why he said, what he said {yesterday 5.03pm}

thus far your comments have a distinctly trollish and unhinged character about them. We (we being the moderators) don’t much care for either what you are saying or how you say it.

You were nearly banned yesterday but a couple of people wanted to give you a chance… I wasn’t one of them… but at the rate you are going smart money says your account won’t survive today.

    The next move is yours.

  • acat

    just which law(s) were broken?

    Please?
