It’s not just Democrats who have strong emotional reactions to guns. Donald Trump supporters get very angry, very fast if you suggest that people should carry weapons in self-defense, against threats and intimidation from Trump supporters.

However new polling suggests most Republicans favor civil liberties, over the Trump comfort zone.

Rasmussen, the most pro-Trump pollster right now, asked Republicans if the right to open carry should be suspended in Ohio for the Republican National Convention. The result: 54-21 against the suspension.

It’s clear: civil rights come before Trump, when it comes to Republicans.
