RS Interview: Wes Riddle (R CAND, TX-25 PRI RUNOFF)
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | July 13th at 04:30 PM |
TX-25 is a new district, thanks largely to Texas’s phenomenal population growth over the last ten years; and it’s got a late primary, thanks largely to the Left’s quite bitter (and largely futile) attempts to force the state to do things that… actually, it doesn’t really matter what you try to force Texas to do. The populace tends to take the position that if they | Read More »
New Poll Has Ted Cruz Up. Conservatives Need to Pony Up Fast. [UPDATED]
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | July 12th at 12:35 PM |
A brand new poll has Ted Cruz ahead of David Dewhurst. The poll was conducted by Fred Wenzel. He also got the Indiana and Nebraska primaries right. Here’s the problem. The primary is three weeks away. Dewhurst has millions of dollars in advantage over Cruz. Conservatives need to pony up. Club For Growth stepped up with a new ad you can see below. It is | Read More »
David Dewhurst’s Media Consultants Attack Ted Cruz and RedState *at* RedState
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | July 11th at 01:34 PM |
This is amazingly pathetic. David Dewhurst’s campaign gets his state government website altered to cover up his lying about his amnesty position. What happens? His media consultants invade RedState to accuse Ted Cruz of supporting Chicoms and attack RedState for supporting Cruz. In fact, this is not the first time Dewhurst’s media consultants have done this. Using the user name “Liberty Patriot,” Dewhurst’s consultants have | Read More »
Gail Collins: all hat and no cattle.
By: Joshua Trevino (Diary) | July 10th at 08:56 PM |
In the latest Muppets movie, the plot (such as it is) revolves about a villain seeking to destroy the Muppets’ theater. There’s oil beneath the structure, and the evil Tex Richman will stop at nothing to get it. Just in case the subtlety escapes you: he’s the bad guy because he’s rich, he’s mean, and he’s Texan. If you’ve seen this contribution to the cinematic | Read More »
Newsflash – Texas State Senators “Decide” to Support Dewhurst over Cruz
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | July 9th at 05:29 PM |
For a guy who says he will go to Washington as a “conservative” and fight against the establishment, it sure is curious to see Texas Lt. Governor David Dewhurst lining up the Texas establishment to defend him in his race for U.S. Senate against the actual conservative, Ted Cruz. Dewhurst has the support of very few people outside of Austin. Think about it. His most | Read More »
Dear Governors, Rick Perry Joins Governors Scott, Jindal, and Haley Showing You The Way
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | July 9th at 10:26 AM |
Rick Perry is joining Governors Nikki Haley, Rick Scott, and Bobby Jindal in leading the way for other governors in the United States, some of whom — even Republicans, are starting to get cold feet on the issue of exchanges and medicaid. Rick Perry is drawing a line in the sand and giving Washington a “hell no.” Under Governor Perry, Texas will not create state | Read More »
Freedom’s Slate
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | July 5th at 04:46 AM |
On this Independence Day, it is time to focus on improving the crop of Republican congressmen by examining some of the remaining Republican primaries. Want the GOP to stand up to Barack Obama? Tired of the GOP cutting deals? Want to make sure the GOP doesn’t back out of full and complete repeal of Obamacare if they sweep in November? Then you absolutely must support | Read More »

Tech at Night: Free Press wants worse Internet for us, Public Knowledge is fine with global Internet regs, evaluating Cybersecurity laws
By: Neil Stevens (Diary) | June 23rd at 03:57 AM |
Texas takes on Google as the state comes after the corporation on antitrust grounds. I’m not sure this is a good idea, any more than it was a good idea for the Clinton administration to go after Microsoft, but it’s probably even dumber for Google to obstruct the investigation.

Silvestre Reyes (D, TX-16) defeated in primary.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | May 30th at 10:30 AM |
It was a bit of a surprise, yesterday: long-term Texas Democratic incumbent Silvestre Reyes was taken down in a primary yesterday. Early reports are crediting the Campaign for Primary Responsibility (CPA), an ostensibly non-partisan anti-incumbent group, for the upset. Fortunately, Reyes is frankly a loss neither to our side (long-notorious PMA porker) nor the Left’s (heavy-handed War on Some Drugs booster). And alas, but the | Read More »
The Extraordinary Nature of the Texas Runoff
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | May 30th at 08:59 AM |
It is hard to overstate just how extraordinary Ted Cruz’s underdog entry into the Texas runoff is and just how the odds are still stacked against him unless conservatives rally quickly with lots of money. David Dewhurst has been Lt. Governor of Texas for more than a decade. He has massive name ID throughout the state. Ted Cruz started this race with a three or | Read More »
Time to do What We Can For Ted Cruz
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | May 30th at 04:46 AM |
David Dewhurst and Ted Cruz are in a runoff in Texas. Cruz has long odds in the runoff, given the margin of Dewhurst’s victory. But it is very doable. Conservatives across the country, however, must unite today. This race must be a national priority for each and every conservative. It is not enough to pray for Ted Cruz, though that helps tremendously. We must put | Read More »

Attacked for Being a Conservative: Ted Cruz Needs Our Help
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | May 25th at 04:46 AM |
I never thought I’d see the day when a Republican attacks another Republican for being a free market conservative, but that’s what David Dewhurst is doing in his attempt to buy the Texas Senate Election. New polling out shows that Dewhurst is close to, but not at, 50% — the threshold he needs to reach to avoid a runoff with Ted Cruz. So now Dewhurst | Read More »
How to Astroturf an Online Cause: the Story of “I Stand with Bill Powers”
By: WILLisms (Diary) | May 16th at 09:00 PM |
From the diaries. Texas is ground zero in the national higher education reform movement. While the Washington crowd tends to fixate on President Obama’s piddling slap fight with Congressional Republicans over government-secured student loan rates, the real action on fixing higher ed is happening in Austin, Texas. The battle between Rick Perry and the higher ed reformers on one hand versus UT-Austin President Bill Powers | Read More »
