Vice-President Mike Pence shot back at New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s judgment on the Trump administration’s handling of the Coronavirus pandemic and blew Cuomo out of the water on Monday night.

Appearing on Fox News with Laura Ingraham, Pence was asked to respond to Cuomo’s repeated attempts to lay the hand of the dead by Coronavirus at the feet of President Donald Trump and his administration. Pence didn’t take it lying down and delivered a strong and concise return.

“Our hearts grieve for the fact that 1 in 5 of all the American lives that have been lost in the coronavirus pandemic were lost in the state of New York, and some of that was because of poor decisions by the state and by Gov. Cuomo,” Pence said. “I liked it better when he said that President Trump’s leadership in the pandemic was, in his words, was ‘phenomenal.’ He said that repeatedly.”

Cuomo had initially praised Trump for his response to the pandemic, but as New York’s dead mounted, Cuomo needed a patsy and Trump was the obvious choice as it is for any Democrat looking to hoist their mistakes on someone else. Cuomo’s mistakes, in particular, were incredibly egregious.

Back in March, Cuomo ordered patients infected with the Coronavirus to be moved into unsecured nursing homes where many healthy elderly were infected with the virus and subsequently died. The numbers of dead that piled up in New York, as a result, were breathtaking.

Back in June, Cuomo attacked Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for his reopening of Florida as “reckless,” but the numbers were nothing short of horrifying in New York thanks to Cuomo’s actions.

The bottom line is that Cuomo’s recklessness led to the deaths of thousands of people, but in the name of political expedience, is using the dead he created as tools with which to attack the Trump administration. It’s a disgusting move, but not surprising coming from a Cuomo.

Even more disgusting is that this isn’t talked about in the media at all. The same media that is calling people fools for attempting to live their lives without fear of the virus because it might kill more people are the same that run defense for a governor that did.

Mike Pence’s retort to Cuomo was pitch-perfect and should be used as a guideline for how responses to these attacks by the left are handled in the future. The irresponsibility and refusal to take responsibility by leftist politicians needs to be highlighted daily. The backroom decisions they made that targeted the elderly for infection need to be center stage as often as possible.

Mike Pence’s response should be the norm.
