Ever sit there and watch clips online of leftists going nuts and wonder why they're acting so strangely?
You're not alone. Their behavior stands out so starkly that society uses it as internet fodder to either laugh at or be annoyed by, and it's so prevalent that I've suggested it be studied on multiple occasions.
Does leftism drive a person crazy? The answer is yes, but that "yes" is not a one-size-fits-all answer. Why it drives people crazy varies from person to person, but one reason might actually give us a pretty clear picture of the puzzle.
I was watching YouTube videos — as one does — when an old pastime of mine was mentioned by YouTuber Asmongold.
Years ago, I used to go to the website Tumblr to see crazy people like a person would visit a zoo to see interesting animals. Many of these Tumblrites loved to self-diagnose and adopt mental and physical illnesses like they were collectors items, and their rantings, ravings, and online tantrums were actually entertaining and kind of hilarious.
Of course, that was back when a lot of these Tumblr-obsessed internet denizens were high school/college students, and I stopped laughing the moment they graduated and began infecting various corporations. If you're wondering how the woke movement became so prevalent, you can blame a lot of the Tumblr kids who grew up without growing up once they reached the real world... but I digress.
The thing is, the left is still doing this self-diagnosis trend all these years later, and as Asmongold points out... it's mainly white people doing it.
As Asmongold points out, white people are mainly doing it because they've been told all their lives they have privilege and thus they invent illnesses they have in order to feel like the playing field is leveled for them.
"Yes, I have white privilege, but I also have multiple-personality disorder, crippling anxiety, and Tourettes, so I'm just as much a victim as people who aren't white."
Indeed, data from Pew showed this voluntary adoption of these "issues" is primarily happening on the left, reinforcing the fact that this is based in ideology, not actual medical diagnoses.

To zoom out a bit, we know the left's ideology sees victimhood as currency. Democrats categorize and rank people based on identity, social status, and class. According to them, white people exist at the bottom of this ladder. The only way to be worth anything is to voluntarily adopt hardships that can't be questioned, thus you see a lot of white leftists purposefully degrading their own mental health in order to be worth something.
This stands in direct contrast on the right, where your worth is what you make it. This is why you see so few "mental illness" claims from the right-leaning side of the aisle. For conservatives, having a mental illness is more of an annoyance that gets in the way and, if someone actually does have one, they try to find a way to work around it, not lean into it.
But this is why you see so many leftists acting insane... it's because they told themselves they are, and when you're told something enough times, you start to believe it.
The majority of these people don't actually have psychological issues, they just really think they do, and thus they behave in ways that compliment their delusion. This also keeps them stuck in a perpetual state of victimhood, causing them to become bitter, detached, and easily manipulated.
Now, this applies to many on the right, but more so to the white population that must degrade itself in order to be worth something on the left. So, effectively, the left's racism — a massive issue it's completely unwilling to address — is driving their own supporters insane.
And you could say that the left's racism is harming everyone's mental health on the left, just in different ways. You're either a perpetrator of racism and must have some sort of issue to counterbalance it, or you're a victim of racism and have free rein to say and do whatever you want. It's like a form of pseudo-moral currency that the left uses for social exchanges.
Funny, for all the left's love of socialism, they're die-hard practitioners of social capitalism.
