Trans Rights Agenda Spreading Into Schools Like Wildfire

The transgender rights movement is a vicious and unforgiving virus. As days go on, the movement stops being one of "we just want to be accepted" into a "we want everything, and we're not taking no for an answer" movement. It is infecting everything in our daily lives as it is seemingly shoved down our throats and, even worse, down our children's throats. Forcing their ideology into our school sports, into the school libraries, or forcing everyone to say their preferred pronoun for that particular day. It seems the virus will not stop spreading at this point. And just recently, the affliction came home to roost in schools close to home for me.

If you were to ask me 10 or 15 years ago what I thought about the transgender movement, I would have told you I don't care; if that's what they want to be, then more power to them. I could not care less what someone does in their own home or to their own body, and that is still the case today. However, now I feel differently, and so should you. I started to care when the movement began forcing me to change my life and beliefs to appease their feelings.

When they started shoving their views down my throat and down my children's throats, I really cared then. When it comes to school sports, major controversies have arrived out it. One well-known case is when a real woman competitive swimmer, Riley Gaines, tied with a man who calls himself Lia Thomas in an NCAA National Swimming competition.

There are obvious reasons why it makes no sense to allow transgender individuals to compete in sports that do not correspond to their sex. Men have a clear physical advantage over women, despite what crazed progressives would have you think. This means that female athletes will be cheated out of opportunities because they are forced to compete against opponents that have a much easier time winning. In short, it creates an unfair system.

The school libraries and campuses aren't safe from this virus either. The libraries are being stuffed with books containing pornographic material, sexually explicit language and art, transgender propaganda, and more. Children as young as 12 are often exposed to this material for the first time. They might not even be telling their parents about it because they think, and rightfully so, that if the book is in the library, it must be okay to read it and not say anything about it.

Not having gay- or trans-themed porn in school libraries is not a sign of discrimination. There is literally no right to porn in schools. Kicking porn out of schools is a sign that, every once in a while, sane people run school districts. Sexually explicit materials, particularly those that endorse aberrant and unsafe behavior, have no place in school libraries, no matter what flavor of ice cream they encourage. Non-pedophiles should be able to agree on this very basic concept.

Glendale Unified School District had copies of the book titled "Gender Queer" in their system, and the parents were not having that at all. They went to their school board meetings with copies of pages of the book blown up so people could see what was in it.

Our children are being exposed to a radical agenda that has no place in our schools. In California, for example, the state legislature is passing bills at a scary pace that either strip away parental rights, allow schools to take kids to see someone to begin, or learn more about transitioning, all without the parent's knowledge. Teachers and students are being forced in some schools to refer to trans staff or students by their preferred pronouns or face discipline. The transgender virus is not only attacking our kids, it's attacking our basic human rights guaranteed in our Constitution and Bill of Rights. The government cannot and shall not make any law or policy to abridge or eliminate one's 1st Amendment right to free speech. Nobody should be forced to be complicit in someone's personal lie.

I frequently attend my local school board meetings, specifically the Santa Clarita, California William S. Hart Union High School District, because, as a parent, I want to be invested and made aware of my children's education and what they're being taught in school. I recognize that schools today are far and away different than when I was in school. Especially when I had nuns for teachers for the better part of 12 years, the things being taught and shown in schools today are mind-blowing. I can only imagine how it is for people 10 or 20 years my senior. I fully recognize this and want to ensure that my kids aren't being indoctrinated like countless kids across this country.

And for the most part, I thought everything was on the up and up. Then, I had my eyes opened, and boy, oh boy, was I shocked. Recently, at the beginning of the school year, I found out that a note was being given to students by some of their teachers at Saugus High School, which is one of the local high schools in my area. This note was a rather short questionnaire that asked basic things like "What is your name?" and "name you want to be called in class." That one seemed a bit odd, but that was where it went south in a hurry.

The question that I got interested in (to say the least) was the last one, where the form asks the students if they want to follow up with them (the teacher) in private to discuss their pronouns. This is a veiled and poorly crafted attempt at the teacher trying to pry their way into the student's private life at home. One argument you frequently see from the trans virus hive minds is they want to know if there is any possible harm being done at home or abuse of the student if they were thinking about gender identity issues. And the trans virus says they have the right to know if the student is being harmed or abused in the home, but they are so very wrong.

Teachers, along with all school staff, are what the law refers to as a "mandated reporter." A mandated reporter is required by law to notify law enforcement and or the Department of Children and Family Services if the teacher sees signs of abuse like scars, bruises, etc. Or if they suspect abuse from the child's behavior or statements made to the school staff member. However, a mandated reporter is not an investigator and is not allowed to conduct their own "investigations" as they are not qualified to do so. The teachers who handed this out are going far beyond the scope of what is expected of a teacher. This was brought to the attention of the school board members at a recent meeting that I attended, and thankfully, some school board members were rightly outraged and swiftly identified who was passing them out (additionally, the notes were not approved by the district) and ensured they stopped the distribution.

Another controversy occurred just a few days ago when a concerned parent took photos of some of the books at the school library of Hart High School, another local high school in the same District. It seems that the virus has offloaded a cargo ship full of propaganda books relating to transgenderism and social justice issues like racism. Several of these books have sexually explicit content or content that talks about sex and sexuality, which should be a conversation between children and their parents, or at the very most, a topic in a school health class that discusses these topics in a regulated and exposed manner.

Some of these books, a large portion of them, should never be on our school campuses. And it seems to be that some of them are getting into the schools without the knowledge of the district supervisors or the Board of Trustees. A few months ago, a parent of a student at another local high school, Castaic High, found that the book "Gender Queer" was in the library and the district had no idea. After an inventory of the district and its libraries, no other copies were found, and the only copies were removed from the one school library. But it didn't end with that; a renegade teacher took it upon themselves to take a copy of the book and keep it in their classroom for their students to read if they asked for it. The book was removed, but it is unclear if the teacher received any kind of reprimand for the book being in the classroom.

Joe Messina, who sits on the William S. Hart Union School District Board of Trustees and is the Trustee for Area No. 5 today, was very strong in his stance of ensuring that this content stays as far away from the district and its campuses as possible. But more importantly, Messina is doing a lot more than that. He is part of a group of over 100 school board trustees, district superintendents, and counselors who are fighting these issues all across the state of California. Messina told RedState:

On my last call, we had over 100 trustees and district superintendents to organize and implement plans to keep books like these out of the schools. We are also fighting to put strong policies back in place to give parents their basic parental rights back. It is the first time in 14 years that board members and superintendents are consolidating to fight this agenda head, and headway is being made in drastic fashon.

I asked Messina how parents can help him—and board members like him—make these things happen. Messina said we have to get involved in the process. He said that they can't do this alone and that they need support from the parents and the community at large. He sees too many people who are being bullied into silence, and it makes their job that much harder. This cannot be understated, I see it all too often where leftist activists far outnumber the concerned parents. And when we talk about concerned parents, they aren't all conservatives, Republicans, or right-wing extremists. I have talked to several registered Democrats and plain Independents who say they are afraid to show up, let alone speak to these issues, because they're too afraid of the extreme leftist community that will go after them if they say what they want.

Our children are far too important to be afraid of liberal trans-virus backlash. We, as parents and community members, are supposed to sacrifice ourselves for the betterment of our children. I would do anything for my kids, they know this. I have said to my wife plenty of times that I would, without a doubt, give my life for theirs. It's time for us to make a much smaller sacrifice for the kids and get involved in the school boards. All you have to do is show up. Board Members like Messina see you, and it emboldens him and others like him to take your fight to the next level. They cannot do it alone, and they need all the help they can get. It's time to save our kids, our future depends on it.
