We previously reported that the godmother of Horace Lorenzo Anderson, Jr, the 19 year old man, the first person killed in the CHOP zone in Seattle, was demanding accountability for what happened to him from the folks in the zone.

[His godmother] said she was “outraged, appalled and disgusted” over her godson’s death. “You just messed up your whole movement because you should’ve sat up here and been protecting him,” she exclaimed. “You guys let a black life go in your so-called ‘Black Lives Matter’ protest on the street. Come on now.”

Stacy wants to know why they didn’t let in medical help sooner and what training CHOP ‘medics’ had to deal with such a situation, whether they had any legitimate training. “I’m trying to understand, why wouldn’t you let 911 medics in to help him,” she said. “You all picked him up. He could’ve still been breathing. We don’t know that.”

Now with the second young black man killed, a 16 year old, and another, a 14 year old boy, wounded, Lorenzo Anderson’s father wants the CHOP dealt with – now.

“I ain’t been sleeping. You see my eyes. I’ve been crying. I’m trying not to cry on TV,” Anderson said in the Monday press conference, according to KIRO Seattle.

“This doesn’t look like a protest to me no more,” said Anderson. “That just looks like they just took over and said we can take over whenever we want to.” [….]

Anderson, to the contrary, says that if the city cannot break up the protest alone, officials should bring in the National Guard.

“They should deployed them here to say ‘Man, it’s time to go,’” Anderson said. ” ‘It’s time to move on. And break this up.’”

Seems Police Chief Carmen Best is done with all this too.

“I’m not going to let the detractors and the naysayers and the agitators be the ones that are the voice here,” she said of the Capitol Hill situation as protesters jeered her from afar. “There are people who live here. There are multiple people who are being injured and hurt. And we need to do something about it. It is absolutely irresponsible for this discontent to continue.”

Getting rid of the police has left the area a chaotic mess. A cautionary tale against “defund the police.”

Garbage piled up; graffiti covered store fronts; music and fireworks prevented residents from sleeping; and the local park became a drug use haven. People on crutches who needed physical therapy could not get to their therapist in the CHOP zone because of the barricades. A maintenance worker who tried to remove graffiti was threatened. Employees of local businesses stopped coming to work because they did not feel safe, which financially jeopardized their employers. Residential condominiums had to hire armed guards. On Monday morning, there were two more shootings, leaving one dead and a 14-year-old in critical condition.

The problem is that the police are no longer allowed to use tear gas, pepper spray or flash bangs to help disperse people because of a court ruling. So all they have left are their own bodies and batons to disperse people out of the area and that’s what Durkan has been reluctant to do.

Will Mayor Durkan finally have the will to do something now that they surrounded her house? Or will they call in the National Guard as Anderson pleads?
