Report: Name of the Next CNN Talking Head to Get the Boot Is In

I wrote earlier in the week about the report from Newscycle’s Jon Nicosia that another head was about to roll at CNN.

Nicosia — who has had good sources for information about the drama at CNN — gave us some good clues then as to who it might be.

Nicosia tweeted Tuesday, “SCOOP: Another “big name” about to exit @CNN. (Stay tuned).”

Nicosia says a Discovery executive explained this “big name” “does not have a place in the new CNN. He reminds us of the Zucker period we are looking to move far from. The only reason he is still on air was not to look like we were ‘cleaning house’ for political reasons right after the closing.”

That, of course, prompted immediate speculation, but Nicosia explains he “agreed not to report the name until the end of the week.”

I speculated as to the possibilities, noting that there were many rabid liberals. But one person seemed to fit the bill they described as reminding the executive of “the Zucker period we are looking to move far from.” I said the “smart money” was on Jim Acosta.

Nicosia had promised his source not to drop the name of who it was “until the end of the week.”

It’s now the end of the week and Nicosia is out with the name — it is Jim Acosta.

Truthfully, it’s hard for me to think anyone there would care about Acosta, but I think all the Democratic operatives are panicking that they might be next. Prepare for some more meltdown from the employees as well as other people on the left over this one.

But Nicosia said CNN wasn’t finished yet.

They do want us to think they are serious about being a news organization again.

CNN isn’t saying anything yet about it. But it couldn’t happen fast enough or to a more deserving guy.
