Amount of Taxpayer Money D.C. Spent Repainting 'Black Lives Matter' on Street Tells You How Bad Dems Are

During the height of the Black Lives Matter protests in 2020, Mayor Muriel Bowser had "Black Lives Matter" painted on the street in Washington, D.C., in 50-foot-tall yellow letters.

She wasn't at all inhibited by all the violence, harm, and even deaths associated with BLM actions. Bowser even joined a BLM march and renamed a street "Black Lives Matter Plaza" in honor of the radical group.

That alone tells you everything you need to know about her and the Democrats in terms of how much they care for their citizens and about their true jobs to serve them.

But it gets worse. The city just "refurbished" the BLM painting on the street, and the amount of taxpayer money they used to do it is incredible.

The refurbishment of the infamous mural, which Democrat Mayor Muriel Bowser initially painted in June 2020 as BLM protests were underway in the city and across the country, appears to have run taxpayers $271,231, including $217,680 in labor costs and $53,551 in paint supplies, according to documents obtained by Judicial Watch from D.C.'s Department of Transportation.

It was the labor that killed it, although that amount for paint supplies is ridiculous, too.

Check out all the people they employed to paint words on the street.

A memorandum of negotiations for the project dated April 13, 2023, indicates that the project required a foreman, operator, laborer, carpenter, and mason. Equipment included a backhoe/loader, portable air compressor, Bobcat, dump truck, pick-up truck, and service truck.

Meanwhile, they defunded the police, cutting the budget by millions and dropping 400 cops from three years ago.

Not surprisingly, crime has soared.

Statistics show that crime in D.C. remains exponentially higher than last year.

According to data from the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department, homicides have increased by 34% as of Nov. 28 over the same time in 2022, while robberies are up 68%, motor vehicle theft is up 93% and arson is up 125%.

Overall, violent crime is up 40% this year, while all crime is up 27%, the data shows.

Democratic D.C. Councilmember Trayon White Sr. said crime was out of control and that it might be time to call in the National Guard in order to help protect the residents of the city. But they shouldn't have to do that — it's not up to the National Guard; it's up to the city. But the city doesn't want to do its job.

Yet the city is more interested in honoring a group that was "racist, anti-police, anti-American, and often violent," Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said.

It never should have gone up to begin with, much less been refurbished. Why would it need to be "refurbished" only three years later? And who authorized that payment? That labor part of the bill is insane, but it shows how much money they're willing to toss away on something so wrong. No wonder D.C. is a mess with decisions like that — when they spend on this rather than protecting the people of the city.
