As Bonchie documented Monday, Democrats and the mainstream media have all of a sudden done almost a complete 180 on the violent riots that have become a regular occurrence in Democrat-run cities and states across the country since the death of George Floyd back on May 25th.
While convenient and predictable, it’s also infuriating – especially considering how Republicans have been the ones raising the roof on the Antifa/BLM-led violence, only to be laughed at by the MSM. And while President Trump has taken aggressive action to quell the rioting, the feckless Democrat mayors and governors in these same states have done nothing but try and pin the violence on him.
Right before the conclusion of Monday’s press briefing, White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany refused to let the riot apologists on the left and in the MSM off the hook, taking a bulldozer to Democrats and the media alike for the about-face they’ve done on protest violence.
She referenced past quotes from Democratic leaders like Nancy Pelosi and Jerry Nadler to media figures like CNN’s Chris Cuomo and Don Lemon, all of who have either made excuses for, downplayed, or otherwise encouraged rioters to continue doing what they’re doing in the name of “social justice” and “change.”
Here’s what McEnany said to reporters as the briefing wrapped up yesterday:
And it’s so interesting to me to see Democrats who once disparaged or ignored the violence, I should say, all of a sudden caring about it. But let’s not forget what they said previously: Speaker Nancy Pelosi downplaying the violence rocking U.S. cities, ignorantly saying, “People will do what they do.”
Jerry Nadler, when asked about Antifa, he said that that was a “myth” that’s being spread around Washington, D.C. It’s not a myth. In fact, an Antifa individual took the life of an innocent Trump supporter in Portland.
You have Rep. Ayanna Pressley saying that she wanted unrest in the streets. Chris Cuomo saying, “Show me where it says protesters are supposed to be peaceful.” I’ll give you an idea, Chris: It’s the Constitution.
Don Lemon saying, quote, “The rioting has to stop. Chris, as you know and I know, it’s showing up in the poll[s]. It’s showing up in the focus groups. It is the only thing right now that’s sticking.”
So, now, all of a sudden, 90 days later, I, from this podium, have talked about law and order. The President has talked about law and order repeatedly, but because the polling has shifted, now it’s time for the Democrats to deny what they said previously and, all of a sudden, focus on law and order.
I’ll leave you with this: That’s like the arsonist blaming the firefighter.
Her smackdown must have been pretty effective, because unlike in past press briefings, not a single reporter asked her a question as she left the podium. Watch:

McEnany also got in a basement jab at 2020 Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden on Monday, pointing out that he took a quote of hers from the briefing out of context:
Mr. President, it’s high time you condemn violence of any form. https://t.co/rQlXyadZid
— Joe Biden (@JoeBiden) August 31, 2020
Unsurprisingly, you missed this, @JoeBiden.
I said moments later:
“The President roundly condemns violence in all of its forms.”
Maybe the reception in the basement is poor? https://t.co/msiuwcGpyu
